Poppy Support spent £75,000,000 last year supporting our active and retired servicemen, Very nearly all of that money comes from the generosity of the public.

Welcome...
The Royal British Legion in Spondon meets on the 2nd Thursday in every month at 8pm Sharp in the committee rooms of the Spondon Village Club
.
Although the RBL Spondon has no affiliation to the Conservative Association, the “Con Club” as the village club is affectionately known locally has been a regular and keen supporter of the Royal British Legion, as indeed has the local Liberal Club which is almost next door.

The Royal British Legion Spondon Branch was founded on the 3rd June 1921 and is therefore the oldest branch in Derbyshire. and currently has 64 members, a couple of dozen of which are “active” members, it thus manages to play a key role in the village community, standards are located in both St Werberghs church and the Spondon Methodist Chapel and apart from being keen fundraisers for Poppy Support, we are very honoured that hundreds of locals turn out every year for the much loved remembrance parade through the village.

Spondon Royal British Legion is devoted to fundraising for Poppy Support and raised very nearly £12000 during the 2008 appeal. Our target for 2009 is to break the £13,000 level and increase awareness of the work of Poppy Support.

www.spondon.org is currently offering great Derbyshire poppy pins show your roots and support with pride.

Date of Next Meeting :- All welcome.

Meetings take place on the second THURSDAY of each month (anytime between the 8th and the 14th then) we meet at 8pm sharp but one of us is ALWAYS LATE and new members visitors and guests are always most welcome.
